An Artist Library for Ottawa

The Artist Library is a free service offered to members, located in our main office at the Shenkman Arts Centre.

The collection appeals to emerging and professional artists who want to add more to their art practice, brush up or learn a new technique, prep for an art instruction class or simply to be inspired.

The arts administration area contains useful tools, reports and ‘how to’ reference materials to support arts groups and individuals.

Find a variety of resources, from books to magazines and audio-visual materials about:

  • Art Around the World
  • Artistic Movements
  • Art Disciplines and Techniques
  • Funding and Arts Administration
  • Governance and Succession Planning
  • Arts Research and Cultural Reports
  • Promotion and Arts Marketing

Members can borrow materials for up to 2 weeks, or more when renewed.

LIBRARY HOURS: MON-FRI 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Not open on holidays or these days.

About the Collection

Many of the materials in the Artist Library were donated by the Ottawa School of Art, members, artists and local arts supporters. We are proud to be the steward of this remarkable collection and want to thank all who have donated and continue to do so.
