AOE Arts Council opens our office and board room to members to provide a public exhibition space to share and sell their work. The 2018 season exhibits includes ‘Meet-the-Artist’ events involving multiple galleries at the Shenkman Arts Centre where artists can share their work with new audiences.

Members of AOE Arts Council are eligible to apply for an exhibit in the AOE Gallery. Call for Submissions for the 2019 season will open in August 2018.

AOE Gallery 2018 Season

Twelve local artists will share their work with the public as part of AOE Arts Council’s 2018 gallery season. The new season of works demonstrate a range of media representative of AOE Arts Council’s visual arts members.

SELECTIONS Annual Juried Exhibition

AOE Arts Council’s annual SÉLECTIONS exhibition promotes Ottawa artists by featuring jury selected works created by our visual arts members. The exhibition is sponsored by DeSerres, St. Laurent Shopping Centre.

In 2016, 2,000 people attended the month-long show which included photography, painting, sculpture, marquetry, drawing, mixed media and printmaking by 33 AOE Arts Council members.

SELECTIONS is one of the largest juried group art shows to use both Salons A and B of the Trinity Art Gallery at the Shenkman Arts Centre. Operated by the City of Ottawa, the Trinity Art Gallery has a contemporary hanging system and professional lighting. The gallery is open to the public Monday to Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Jurors Awards

At the opening reception, three artists are recognized by their professional peers with a Juror’s Award and a 100$ DeSerres gift certificate. The jury is comprised of professional local visual artists of different art practices.

People’s Choice Award

The public is able to vote for the People’s Choice Award, at the gallery, over the duration of the SELECTIONS exhibit. The selected artist is announced at the end of exhibit and also receives a 100$ DeSerres gift certificate.
