Glenna Tissenbaum creates compelling abstract acrylic paintings. Although not academically trained, her innate understanding of color, shape, composition and form has led to her distinctive artistic style. As a mixed media artist, she fabricates thought provoking 2-D collages and large, whimsical 3-D dioramas, comprised of among other things, found objects, children’s toys, carved wood and fabric. Playful by nature, these works often feature movable parts. A strong believer in the connective value of interactive art, she invites the viewer to engage with her work, in order to experience a physical and personal link. A great believer in experimentation and hands-on learning, she taught herself to paint, sew and sculpt.Glenna has participated in various juried competition, including “Sessions 2015”, sponsored by the AOE and a group exhibit mounted at the 2015 Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) in Toronto, Canada sponsored by Artists in Canada and the Toronto West Arts Collaborative (TWAC).Her work can be found in private and corporate collections.
