AOE Applauds City Council’s Unanimous Support of an Action Plan for Arts, Culture and Heritage
February 09, 2012

AOE Arts Council is pleased with the unanimous approval by Ottawa City Council of the Renewal Action Plan for Arts, Culture and Heritage. The six year action plan will improve cultural investment in the city and proposes a $5 million investment in the arts, heritage and cultural sectors.

“Council’s approval of the Action Plan demonstrates their understanding of the economic and social benefits arts, culture and heritage contribute to our quality of life,” says Christine Tremblay Executive Director of AOE Arts Council.

The Action Plan was the result of a comprehensive one year consultation process conducted by the Renewal Action Plan Steering Committee of which Christine Tremblay was a member.

“The strength of this plan is that the Steering Committee, with the full support of the City of Ottawa cultural staff, put considerable effort into ensuring meaningful consultations were held with all sectors of the community impacted by arts, culture and heritage policies,” adds Tremblay.
