OYP Theatre School began in 1989 when two volunteer teachers offered after school classes for 9 to 11 year-olds. Today, we offer a full curriculum of introductory and specialized classes – and summer programming – in our two professional studios in the Shenkman Arts Centre.

Our mission is to provide accessible theatre education and performance experience at various levels to students of all ages. Our vision is to be a creative catalyst for self-confident performers and discerning and appreciative patrons of the arts — in our school and the greater community.

OYP Theatre School offers classes for everyone, from pre-school to adult. Class sizes are limited to ensure quality. All of our Fundamentals classes perform in our annual Student Showcase - the play becomes the focus through which aspects of theatre are explored and class learning is applied.
