Join us Thursday, October 26 for the 2017 onstage edition of ARTinis at the Shenkman Arts Centre, where a Culinary Carnival of Arts and Screams brings the Ottawa Arts Community together with community leaders, business members and supporters. ARTinis, our annual benefit soirée, will put you in the mood to party in a carnival atmosphere while you enjoy an evening full of surprises, live music, and artistic demonstrations. Delight in tastings of decadent food and drinks showcased by some of Ottawa’s finest food vendors and a three-course tasting menu. Come in cocktail attire or costume, if you dare!


Under the Big Top

Tasting experience on the Harold Shenkman Mainstage. Exceptional, three-course tasting menu prepared by three of Ottawa’s finest Executive Chefs : David Fortune, Ryan Edwards and Francis Periard.Performances by leading Ottawa musicians, guitarist Roddy Ellias and cellist Joan Harrison.


Chef David Fortune - Bar Laurel

David, or Junior as he is more commonly known, is currently the Chef de Cuisine at Bar Laurel. David was born and raised in Ottawa and spent time working in some of Ottawa's top restaurants before honing his skills as Executive Chef at Bartlett Lodge in Algonquin Park for four seasons. Having worked in Ottawa under John Taylor - a veteran of regional and seasonal cuisine - Dave's style is focused on fresh seasonal and local produce, meats and sustainable fishes. He feels a responsibility to protect the environment and believes in using local ingredients whenever possible, supporting sustainable farming and only purchasing meat and fish from suppliers who ensure that the animals had been humanely treated.

Chef Ryan Edwards - Salt Dining & Lounge

Ryan is the Executive Chef at Salt Dining & Lounge and its sister venue Evermore Weddings & Events. Born and raised in Ottawa, he graduated from Algonquin College’s Culinary Management program. Ryan has cooked in some of the top kitchens in Ottawa including Domus Café and Taylors’s Genuine Food & Wine Bar. Ryan’s dishes are visually commanding. He thoughtfully designs his food with bold flavours and intricate techniques. He has developed relationships with many local farmers and producers. His farm-to-table approach guarantees his guests the integrity of the freshest, seasonal ingredients while supporting local business.  Ryan competed in Gold Medal Plates (2014) and frequently lends his time to charity events throughout the city.

Returning for its tenth year, AOE Arts Council’s popular annual Artinis event attracts 300 artists, arts lovers, business and community leaders who come together to celebrate and support our initiatives on behalf of Ottawa’s artists and arts organizations.
